How to Set Up Your Candle Dippers™ Candlemaking Frame: First-Time Assembly, Frame and All Accessories

Everything you need to get your Candle Dippers™ frame set up, secured, and ready for clean, consistent candlemaking.

How to Set Up Your Candle Dippers™ Candlemaking Frame: First-Time Assembly, Frame and All Accessories

This tutorial will show you how to assemble your Candle Dippers™ Candlemaking Frame.

All tools required for assembly are included with your frame. Note that we assume if you are buying accessories like our Magnetic Tripod Mount or our Ergonomic Rotating Handle, you will be, or have already, purchased one of our frames, and so we do not include any tools with those accessories.

Assembling the Frame

Start the assembly by taking the parts shown below out of the parts bag. We will be loosely installing the ring brackets onto the rings before installing the rings onto the shaft.

Figure 1: Ring hardware
Figure 2: Ring bracket, slotted hole

The slotted hole shown in Figure 2 is on the side of the bracket that installs onto the ring. The standard round hole is on the side of the bracket that installs onto the shaft.

Using the tools in Figure 3, install the brackets on the top logo ring and bottom ring as shown in Figure 4. Only loosely install the locknuts, enough so they do not fall off.

The order of hardware installation for each slotted hole is as follows, from top to bottom:

Screw head › nylon washer › slotted bracket hole › ring › nylon washer › locknut

Figure 4: Loose bracket installation

Now take out the shaft hardware shown in Figure 5, and slide the top ring onto the shaft from the lower end (the end opposite the hook), as shown in Figure 6. Take note of the orientation of the logo to the shaft hook when viewed from the top: the open side of the hook faces the word "Candle" in the logo.

Slide the ring to your desired candle height, as determined by the installation position of the bottom ring (more on that below). Leave the top two holes open if you plan on installing an Ergonomic Rotating Handle. Install the shaft hardware in the following order, from side to side:

Screw head › nylon washer › bracket › shaft › bracket › nylon washer › wingnut (top ring) or locknut (bottom ring)

Fully tighten the nut.

Now finish tightening the ring hardware as shown in Figures 8 and 9. Pay attention to the bracket alignment with the shaft to ensure the ring is installed squarely before fully tightening.

Before installing the bottom ring, be sure it is in exact alignment with the top ring before sliding it onto the shaft. Misalignment will make stringing the frame more difficult later.

Note that there is a top and a bottom for the bottom ring, as there is for the top ring. For the top ring the logo makes this obvious; for the bottom ring we affix a sticker to the top prior to shipment.

Figure 10: Align the top and bottom rings

After confirming alignment, slide the bottom ring onto the shaft. You will install the bottom ring in the bottom hole, if you are not using the Magnetic Tripod Mount, and in the second-from-bottom hole if you are. Since we will be installing all accessories in this tutorial, we will use the second-from-bottom hole.

Repeat the shaft installation procedure for the bottom ring, the same as you did for the top ring.

You have completed assembling the frame. Next we will install the Magnetic Tripod Mount.

Installing the Magnetic Tripod Mount

Start by taking the steel plate out of your mount kit. The plate is coated with Fluid Film, a natural lanolin-based corrosion inhibitor, to ensure you receive it in top condition. Using a paper towel, wipe the excess inhibitor from the plate, including the square hole corners. Residue in the tapped holes is not a cause for concern. If you prefer, wear disposable gloves. The plate should be dry to the touch before continuing. Do not use water, soap or any solvents: we are removing the excess, not stripping the protection from the plate and encouraging corrosion.

Now take the plate hardware shown in Figure 15, and loosely install the brackets onto the plate, in the following order, from top to bottom:

Screw head › split washer › nylon washer › slotted bracket hole › plate

Slide the plate onto the shaft, and like the rings, use the shaft hardware to tightly affix the tripod mount to the shaft. Finish the installation by tightening up the plate hardware.

We will now install our final accessory, the Ergonomic Rotating Handle. Note: this entire set is available as a bundle, for an additional 5% OFF, on top of our existing quantity pricing structure.

Installing the Ergonomic Rotating Handle

Start the handle installation by taking out the brackets and related hardware shown in Figure 19. You'll be installing the brackets in the top two holes of the frame shaft.

Place the brackets on either side of the shaft, oriented as shown in Figure 21, and install the hardware in the following order, from side to side:

Screw head › nylon washer › bracket › shaft › bracket › nylon washer › locknut

You may fully tighten the hardware at this stage.

To install the handle into the brackets, gather the hardware shown in Figure 22, and insert the spacer into the handle hole, as shown in Figure 23. Then, slide the handle and spacer in-between the brackets, and using the remaining hardware, following the same order above, install the handle.
