The Details

This kit transforms a standard tripod into a precision mounting platform for candle frames.

A steel plate is fixed to the underside of the frame. The neodymium cup magnet mounts to the tripod via the standard threaded post, with a TPU spacer providing controlled separation and damping. Once assembled, the frame can be placed onto the tripod with a precise magnetic interface and removed just as cleanly.

The result is a rigid, upright frame position that eliminates the need to balance or hand-support the frame during stringing. Instead of working one-handed or improvising supports, both hands are free to tension and align wicking material. This significantly improves control, accuracy, and throughput during frame preparation.

Within frame-based workflows, the system functions as a modular fixture rather than an accessory. Frames can be mounted, removed, and repositioned with speed and repeatability, turning a previously awkward step into a controlled, engineered operation.

Gear Tip > Optimize frame cooling

If you need a simple way to hang frames while cooling applied wax layers, and between production cycles, a set of heavy-duty storage straps with metal grommets provides ready-made hanging points for frame hooks without drilling or permanent hardware. For higher throughput, a lightweight folding clothes rack offers enough strength to support multiple fully loaded frames while remaining easy to move and store. Together, these inexpensive, off-the-shelf items create a flexible hanging setup that scales from small batches to larger runs without the complexity of a fixed installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do I need this?

Our tripod mount is a major upgrade for speeding up your frame stringing workflow. We developed it after many frustrating sessions trying to string frames by hanging them, holding them in one hand or resting them on a tabletop. Proper frame stringing requires two hands to achieve the correct wicking tension. Proper tension ensures the candles form straight when dipped. If the wick is slack the candles can develop a bow. If the tension is too great the wick will not become properly impregnated with wax during dipping, which can reduce burn quality for your customers. When a frame is hung it swings away as soon as you pull tension on the wicking. When you hold the frame with one hand, either in the air or on a tabletop, you can maintain tension but threading the wicking through the notches becomes difficult at the same time. One hand must hold tension, similar to holding a knot while tying a bow, while the other guides the wicking through the notches. Mounting the frame on an inexpensive tripod using our kit keeps it stable and frees both hands, dramatically speeding up the process. In most cases the time saved in a single session more than pays for the cost of the kit.

  • What is the difference between the two kits?

The complete kit includes a magnet and a spacer, which you install on your tripod. The bottom plate kit is only the hardware needed to mount on your frame. You only need a complete kit for however many stringing stations you will have setup on tripods. For every other frame you only need the bottom mount kit. So, if you buy three frames, and plan to set up one tripod, you need one complete mount kit, and two bottom plate-only mount kits.

  • What kind of tripod do I need?

Practically any cheap tripod will do. On our Gear Tips page, we link to an Amazon Basics tripod, and we also highly recommend the panning base also linked to on that page. The panning base allows you to rotate the frame while stringing, rather than having to dance around the tripod to follow the course of your stringing (but go ahead and dance you heart out, if you want to!).
