The Details

Melting wax at scale requires control, consistency and capacity.

The DigiBoil Electric Wax Melting Kettle is designed for candlemaking workflows that demand stable heat and predictable results. Its large capacity makes it well suited for frame-based production, molds and batch work with beeswax and other candle waxes.

Height plays a critical role in performance. The kettle’s tall internal profile creates a substantial wax column, which is especially important when producing taller candles. A deeper wax column supports smoother flow, improved thermal stability and more consistent results across longer candle lengths.

Temperature stability is central to quality in candle making. Beeswax and other waxes respond differently to heat, and small fluctuations can affect flow, finish and consistency. The DigiBoil’s digital temperature control makes it easy to reach and maintain a steady working temperature throughout production.

Dual heating elements provide flexibility in how quickly wax is brought up to temperature and how steadily it is maintained. A stainless steel ball valve enables controlled pouring and clean draining, which simplifies handling molten wax and reduces mess.

The stainless steel construction is durable, hygienic and easy to clean, making the kettle well suited for repeated use in serious candlemaking environments.

For makers moving beyond small pots and improvised setups, this kettle offers a reliable, scalable way to melt wax with precision and confidence.

Gear Tip > Improve heat stability & efficiency

For an economical and effective boost in thermal performance, consider adding a silicone drum heating belt.

Used around the kettle body, it acts as both a supplemental heat source and an insulating layer, helping maintain temperature stability, reduce heat loss, reduce wax scorching and improve overall efficiency during extended wax melting sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the ideal Digiboil setup?

We're still building it :) In the meantime, here's what we do: 2 wax melting/ dipping kettles, with silicone drum heating belts and wheeled dollies; 1 melt-off kettle, water-filled, stationary, with the DigiMash insert to catch wick pieces released by the wax; smart plugs on everything, to manage remotely/ schedule in advance (the kettles take 12+ hours to melt). DigiBoil kettles and DigiMash inserts are available in our shop, other gear mentioned is available on Amazon and linked to on our Gear Tips page.

  • Why do you use two wax melting/ dipping kettles?

We use two because this gives us more wax "column" to use in one session, without adding more wax to a working kettle. We try to avoid adding wax during a session, because of occasional scorching that can occur to the wax at the bottom of the kettle (more on addressing that below). Stirring up the bottom of the kettle can stir up particulate, which can spot our candles. And because of the size and volume of candles we produce, we need more dipping column than is available in a single DigiBoil in a single session.

  • Can I use just one DigiBoil and one DigiMash insert?

You absolutely can! If you plan your production session appropriately, you can still get a lot done with just one wax melter. The most time-consuming use of the kettle, that will interrupt your dipping, is melting off frames for re-stringing. This takes much longer in wax, than in water (see our tutorial about using the latter). Having more frames will allow you to dip more candles before you need to start melting off frames, so this is one workaround. Lining up other work while your frames are melting off, such as packaging your finished candles, can occupy the time required to melt off your frames for re-stringing. Just make sure you plan ahead so you are not standing around waiting for your frames to melt off, because your time is valuable!

  • How do I prevent wax scorching in the bottom of the kettle?

We're working on a game-changing solution to this persistent problem. The trade-off with a wax melter of this size, at this price, is dealing with heating element hotspots. For now! In the meantime, what we do, is add 1-2 gallons of distilled water to the kettle. This helps reduce (but does not eliminate) scorching, and more importantly, the scorched wax particles tend to collect at the boundary between the melted wax and the water, keeping the particles out of your column of dipping wax, since the DigiBoil is quite tall.

  • How do I prevent particulate from spotting my candles?

See previous answers above, and ensure you have enough dipping column to do your entire session, without needing to add wax to your kettle(s) (which stirs up the particles). As a reference, we can complete our session, which produces about 1,000 1/4" x 9" tapers, in the amount of dipping column provided by 2 standard-height DigiBoils. And a pro tip, if you are just getting started with one DigiBoil: you can gently "fold in" more wax during the same session, by dipping your pouring pot full of wax into the kettle, bottom first, then slowly turning it on its side, so the new wax folds in, and does not disturb the bottom of the kettle.

  • How much beeswax does the DigiBoil hold?

About 70-72 pounds. For other waxes ask ChatGPT the weight of a wax column of your type of wax that is 11.75" diameter by 19" tall.
